ISLAMABAD: United Kingdom Foreign Secretary David Lammy met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House during his official visit to Pakistan.
The two leaders held discussions on a range of bilateral and regional issues, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening Pakistan-U.K. relations.
Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the ceasefire understanding with India, emphasizing that Pakistan had shown patience and restraint in the face of unprovoked aggression and unfounded accusations from New Delhi.
He stated that Pakistan’s response, when exercised in self-defence, was carefully measured, proportionate, and targeted.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s desire for peace and stability in South Asia, the Prime Minister underscored the country’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.
He extended warm greetings to King Charles III and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, expressing satisfaction with the positive momentum in Pakistan-U.K. relations and a strong desire to deepen cooperation in all areas.
Foreign Secretary Lammy congratulated Prime Minister Sharif on the ceasefire understanding and affirmed the United Kingdom’s continued support in fostering peace and stability in the region.
