ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.
During the contact, both sides discussed bilateral relations and regional developments, according to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
The UK foreign secretary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting peace and stability in the region. She specifically acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in reaching the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), describing Islamabad’s contribution as valuable.
She also recognized Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement in facilitating understanding between the United States and Iran in connection with the Islamabad MoU process.
During the call, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as the preferred means of resolving disputes. Both leaders agreed to maintain regular contact and continue cooperation for regional peace and stability.
The two sides also exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest and expressed a shared desire to strengthen bilateral engagement going forward.
