UN Chief Expresses Optimism Over Islamabad Talks

ISLAMABAD: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed optimism regarding the ongoing Islamabad talks between the United States and Iran, terming them a positive step toward easing regional tensions.

In a message, the UN chief acknowledged Pakistan’s role in facilitating the dialogue, stating that the country has provided an important diplomatic opportunity for both sides. He noted that Pakistan’s efforts have helped create space for reducing tensions and moving toward ending hostilities.

According to the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, UN envoys are currently present in the region to support ongoing diplomatic efforts and encourage constructive engagement between the parties.

The development comes as Islamabad hosts high-level negotiations aimed at achieving a ceasefire and promoting long-term peace, with the international community closely monitoring the outcome of the talks.
