NEW YORK: The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has condemned the terrorist attack on a check post of the army security in Dera Ismail Khan that left 25 soldiers dead on Tuesday.
Condemning the attack, the council members in a statement expressed solidarity with the government of Pakistan and sent out condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers.
They said terrorism was one of the most serious threats to international peace and security and countries needed to eliminate it by joint efforts.
The statement said that the international community should extend full support and cooperation to the government of Pakistan to tackle the issue.
Thousands of soldiers abd civilians have fallen victims to terrorism in Pakistan for the last iver two decades and the international community has done nothing to help Pakistan cope with the situation.
