UN’s new bid for world peace termed bold, timely

UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has welcomed as “bold and timely” the UN Secretary-General’s new policy to boost peace and security in the world.

Commenting on Antonio Guterres’ New Agenda for Peace, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram said that the world faces complex threats to peace arising from the use and threat of use of force in violation of the UN Charter, unresolved disputes; prolonged foreign occupation, environmental impacts and poverty.

He said Pakistan, together with other like-minded countries will seek to reflect these fundamental preconditions for peace in the outcome of next year’s summit of the future.
