UNSC condemns school bus attack, wants action against terror perpetrators

NEW YORK: The United Nations Security Council has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack on a school bus in Khuzdar, Balochistan calling it a “cowardly and heinous act.”

In an official statement, the council emphasized that all acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation or who carries them out. It stressed the need to combat threats to international peace and security by all possible means.

“Terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security,” the statement said. The council further asserted that those responsible for organizing, financing, and executing such attacks must be brought to justice.

The Security Council urged all countries to actively cooperate with the Government of Pakistan in accordance with their obligations under international law. The statement extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the Government of Pakistan, and the Pakistani people.

All members of the council expressed their hopes for the swift and full recovery of those injured in the attack.
