US Actress Arrested During Protest Against Israel

NEW YORK: American actress Susan Sarandon was reportedly arrested during a protest outside the United Nations headquarters in New York, according to the report.

Sarandon was among protesters demonstrating against Israeli policies. She called on the United States to stop providing military assistance to Israel.

The demonstration took place as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was scheduled to address the United Nations. The report also said that a group of Orthodox Jews held a separate demonstration in New York during Netanyahu’s appearance.

Sarandon, an Academy Award-winning actress and longtime political activist, has previously participated in public demonstrations on international and humanitarian issues.
