The move follows the White House decision to bar journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico from entering the White House after their press access credentials were revoked.
Fox News Media, ABC News, CBS News, NBC News and CNN issued a joint statement stressing the public interest in receiving accurate and independent information about the government. The networks said administrations should not restrict news organisations simply because they are critical of government policies or actions.
According to the report, the White House press pool also said its television pool would no longer cover President Trump’s activities from Tuesday and that no alternative arrangement would be provided.
Journalists from the three affected organisations had earlier confirmed that their access credentials had been cancelled and that they were being denied entry to the White House.
The White House did not cite a specific news report or article as the reason for restricting access, while Trump also warned that journalists from other news organisations could face similar restrictions.
CNN, MS NOW and Politico have announced plans to take legal action against the Trump administration over the restrictions, further escalating the dispute between the White House and major US media organisations.
