ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to provide major relief to overseas Pakistanis by simplifying the process of buying, selling, and transferring vehicles through digital biometric verification.
According to reports, overseas Pakistanis will now be able to complete vehicle purchase and ownership transfer through the Pak ID mobile application using biometric verification.
This facility has already been introduced in Islamabad and Sindh, and the Punjab government has also become active to launch the service at the earliest.
The Director General Excise Punjab has re-established contact with NADRA to integrate systems, enabling biometric verification for vehicle transfers in the province.
Once implemented, overseas Pakistanis will be able to verify ownership by entering the vehicle number, chassis number, and owner’s details in the Pak ID app.
Previously, overseas Pakistanis were required to issue an authority letter attested by the Pakistani embassy and send it to Pakistan for vehicle transfer, a lengthy and complicated process. The new digital system will eliminate this requirement, saving both time and effort.
Officials say that biometric verification through Pak ID will help prevent fraud and illegal vehicle transfers registered under the names of overseas Pakistanis. At present, thousands of vehicles are being driven on open letters due to delays in biometric verification.
Authorities further stated that coordination between Excise Departments and NADRA regarding overseas Pakistanis had already been finalized, and system integration is now underway.
Once completed, the new facility will provide significant relief and enhanced security for overseas Pakistanis involved in vehicle transactions.
