We will buy PIA at all costs, says Gandapur
Our provincial government will operate PIA under its own name, we will not allow them to buy it at throwaway rate.
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakthunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said his province will buy PIA at all costs and operate it under its own name.
Mr Gandapur stated this after reports that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz planned to buy PIA and launch a brand new airlines with the name of Air Punjab.
The Khyber Pakthunkhwa Chief Minister said that he will not allow them to buy PIA at throwaway rate. People now understand well that they deliberately wanted to sell PIA for their own vested interests. He said that his province will go for the highest bids to buy the PIA.
A few days ago, the Khyber Pakthunkhwa Chief Minister had also written a letter to the Privatization Commission offering to pay more than 10 billion rupees for the PIA after a private company refused to offer more than 10 billion rupees against the base price set by the Privatization Commission at Rs85 billion.
After the government failed to sell off the PIA, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said that his daughter and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was interested in buying the PIA and launching a brand new airlines with the new name of Air Punjab.
