KARACHI: Wheat worth more than Rs150 billion is getting spoiled in the government godowns in the province of Sindh.
The food department has written to the Sindh government for the release of wheat.
According to the letter written by the Food Department, 1.376 million metric tons of wheat is currently stored in the warehouses set up in Sindh in the wheat years 2022-23 and 2024.
The letter said that the loss of wheat was feared to be worth more than 150 billion rupees.
The residents demanded the Sindh government to sell the stored wheat immediately, saying that the stored wheat would cause losses to the farmers on the new crop.
