WASHINGTON: The White House spokesperson has stated that the United States is seeking assistance from its allies to ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to foreign media reports, the spokesperson said that President Trump is urging allies to take a more active role in protecting the strategic waterway. Discussions with European and Gulf partners are ongoing. The spokesperson added that the US military still has plans in place to reopen the Strait if needed.
Regarding international diplomacy, it was noted that Beijing agreed to postpone President Trump’s visit due to scheduling conflicts, and Chinese President Xi Jinping also has a busy agenda.
The White House confirmed that efforts are underway to set a new date for the US president’s trip to China.
