Wife’s alleged killer acquitted in illegal gun case
Prosecution failed to produce evidence against suspect held on charge of murdering his wife, says court.
ISLAMABAD: A court here has acquired Shahnawaz Mir from holding an illegal gun through which he had alleged murdered his wife Sara Inam in the capital city.
Sara was a Canadian national and allegedly murdered by Shahnawaz, her husband and son of political commentator Ayaz Amir at his Chak Shahzad house in Islamabad a year ago.
Shahnawaz was arrested in connection with the case a day after the murder. Besides the murder charge, the suspect was also facing by the charge of possessing an illegal gun.
Judicial magistrate Umar Shabbir dismissed the case due to poor investigation by the police. The judge ordered his release in on submission of surety bonds.
The judge in his order said that there were more than one loopholes in the case and the suspect was acquitted by giving him benefit of the doubt.
On the other hand, arguments in the murder case continues and the court will pronounce its verdict after conclusion of the arguments by both be sides.
