PESHAWAR: An event marking International Women’s Day was organized by Hum Log Organization in collaboration with the Directorate of Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Government Frontier College for Women, Peshawar, on Saturday.
The ceremony held at the college auditorium began with a welcome address by Principal Dr. Shaheen Umar, who appreciated the initiative highlighting women’s role in society.
Chairman Hum Log Organization and President Minority Forum Pakistan, Augustin Jacob, introduced the organization and paid tribute to women globally, particularly in Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for their contributions. He also thanked the Directorate of Youth Affairs for supporting the event.
Speakers including Naz Parveen, Bushara Furkah, and Fiaza Shahzad shared views through speeches and poetry, emphasizing women’s empowerment and their role in building a progressive and inclusive society.
Students presented skits highlighting women’s participation in different spheres of life and their contributions to social development.
Chief guest Dr. Azra Ghani, Associate Professor and Head of Urology at Lady Reading Hospital, stressed respect, equity, diversity and inclusion in Pakistani society and appreciated the organizers for promoting awareness about women’s rights and contributions.
