World Health Organization asks Int’l community to help Afghan People

NEW YORK: The World Health Organization has called on the international community to support the people of Afghanistan to avert humanitarian catastrophe in the country.

In a statement, the WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he met with the Taliban health Minister Qalander Ibad who is part of Afghanistan’s delegation, currently visiting Switzerland.

He said the health situation in Afghanistan is still dire and acute humanitarian crisis is continuing to put lives at risk. The Taliban delegation will also meet Swiss and other European officials and the Red Cross as well.
