YouTubers jailed for blackmailing clinic owner

Owner and reporter of channel also fined 10 thousand rupees each.

KARACHI: A anti-terrorism court here has sentenced the owner and reporter of a YouTube channel after they were found guilty of blackmailing a citizen.

The two convicts were also fined 10 thousand rupees each by the court on the complaint of the owner of a medical center.

The case was based on a complaint lodged at the Aziz Bhatti police station in Gulshan Iqbal by Arif Solangi. He said that the reporter along with his cameraman reached his clinic and filmed the premises and demanded three and a half lac rupees. 

Later, the clinic owner paid one and a half lac rupees at the office of the channel and send remaining amount through easypaisa, but the accused continued blackmailing him.

After the allegations were proved in the court, the judge ordered the arrest of the two convicts, who were on bail before arrest, and sent them to jail.

The YouTube channel owner and reporter were identified as Aslam Monga and Wasim Abbas Hashmi.
