PTI-backed independent candidate shot dead in Pindi

Chaudhry Adnan contested for NA-57 and PP-11 but lost both seats to PML-N.

RAWALPINDI: Unknown people riding a bike shot dead a PTI local leader in Rawalpindi on Monday evening. His driver as injured critically, according to the police.

The deceased was identified as Chaudhry Adnan, who was a former member of Punjab Assembly. Adnan had contested the Feb 8th elections for NA-57 and PP-11 but lost both the seats to the PML-N.

He was elected as an MPA on the ticket of the PTI in the 2028 general elections. 

Adnan was returning home at Janda Chichi area of Rawalpindi from Kutchey when his car was sprayed with bullets on old Airport Road by unknown persons riding a motorcycle. He died on the spot and his driver was shifted to the hospital in a critical condition.

Police have launched an investigation into the murder and shifted the dead body to hospital for postmortem.
