PTI OIC Secretary Sajjad Burki congratulated overseas teams for organizing rallies and praised their efforts. He said planned protests in New York and Washington were postponed due to severe weather, with new dates to be announced soon.
PTI Postpones Long March to Islamabad Until October 5
The development follows PTI’s decision to postpone its planned Islamabad march until October 4. The party had originally scheduled the march for September 27.
PTI Overseas Campaign
Burki praised PTI leaders and supporters in the United Kingdom and Spain for organizing recent demonstrations. He also acknowledged party teams in France, Germany, Greece, Belgium, Canada, Australia, Japan, and other locations.
He credited overseas supporters with sustaining the party’s international campaign. Burki said PTI would continue raising the issue through international forums. The protests will focus on the party’s demands for Imran Khan’s release and democratic governance.
PTI has made Khan’s release a central demand of its ongoing protest campaign. The party postponed its Islamabad march after its political committee approved October 4 as the new date.
New York, Washington Protests
Burki said PTI would announce further demonstrations in New York and Washington, D.C. He said the events would seek international attention over Khan’s imprisonment.
The protests also form part of PTI’s wider overseas campaign. The party has used demonstrations abroad to highlight its political demands and rally international support.
Meanwhile, the Tehreek-i-Tahafuz-i-Aain-i-Pakistan has said it will participate in PTI’s October 4 protest.
