Warrants issued for arrest of PTI’s Gandapur

DC Dera Ismail Khan approached to arrest and present nominated CM of Khyber Pakthunkhwa before AJK election commission on Feb 28.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN. The election commission of Azad Kashmir has approached the deputy commissioner of Dera Ismail Khan to arrest and present Ali Amin Gandapur before the commission on February 28.

Gandapur defeated JUI-F chief Molana Fazlur Rehman in his home constituency for the second time in the February 8 general elections.

PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan later nominated Gandapur for the slot of Khyber Pakthunkhwa chief minister where the party has gotten simple majority and is set to form its government.

However, in a surprising move, the election commission of Azad Kashmir has issued warrants for the arrest of Gandapur in an old case.

The case relates to Gandapur’s alleged role in violating the code of conduct during the elections to the AJK assembly held in the year 2021 when Gandapur was the federal minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan affairs.

A case was filed with the election commission against Gandapur by a lawyer, identified as Zulqarnain.
