Pakistan Edge South Korea to Seal Hockey Series

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan secured a dramatic victory over South Korea in the third Test at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium on Tuesday, taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the four-match series.

South Korea made a fast start, taking the lead in the 11th minute through Lim Dae-yoon. Pakistan created several chances in the second quarter but could not find the equaliser before the interval.

Pakistan finally levelled the score in the third quarter through Hayat, only for South Korea to regain the lead through Kim and finish the quarter 2-1 ahead.

The final quarter turned into a thrilling contest, with four goals scored as both sides pushed hard for victory. South Korea briefly extended its advantage to 3-2, but Pakistan responded strongly in the closing stages.

The home side produced an impressive late surge, first drawing level before scoring again to take the lead. Pakistan held on through the final minutes to complete a hard-fought win and clinch the series with one match still to play.

The fourth and final Test is scheduled for August 7 in Islamabad.

At the post-match ceremony, Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani presented prizes to the players. Hockey greats and Olympians Samiullah and Hasan Sardar attended the ceremony as guests of honour.
