ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced a 20-member national squad for the 2026 Men’s Hockey World Cup, combining experienced campaigners with promising young talent.
Goalkeepers Waqar and Ali Raza have been selected for the squad, while the lineup also includes Muhammad Abdullah, Muhammad Sufyan, Moeen Shakeel, Abdul Waheed Ashraf Rana, Abdul Hanan Shahid, Zakaria Hayat, Arshad Liaquat and Adeel Latif.
Ahmed Nadeem, Ghazanfar Ali, Imad Shakeel Butt, Muhammad Hamad-ud-Din Anjum, Rehman Abdul, Afraz, Umar Mustafa, Abu Bakar Mahmood, Abdul Muttan and Muhammad Imad complete the 20-member squad.
Bob Johan Weldehof will serve as head coach, with Christopher John Bowen and Adnan Zakir appointed as assistant coaches. Muhammad Owais Qarni will be the team manager.
The FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup will be held from August 15 to 30 in the Netherlands and Belgium.
PHF President Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani expressed confidence in the squad, describing it as a well-balanced combination of experienced players and emerging talent.
The national team will aim to make a strong impact at the global tournament as Pakistan looks to revive its standing among the world’s leading hockey nations.
