COAS gives amnesty to 20 PTI activists

Convicts belong to Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Mardan and Dir.

ISLAMABAD: As many as 20 PTI activists sentenced to one year’s imprisonment in the May 9 vandalism cases have been released.

The release was made possible after army chief Gen Asim Munir announced amnesty for them, according to a report submitted to the Supreme Court by the attorney general of Pakistan. 

The PTI activists belonging to Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Mardan and Dir had been sentenced to one year in jail by military courts.

On the direction of the Supreme Court, their release was expedited to enable them to celebrate Eidul Fitr with their families.
