Commanders Vow to Continue Operations Against Cross-Border Terrorism

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s top military leadership has reaffirmed its resolve to continue intelligence-based operations against terrorist groups operating from across the border in Afghanistan, according to a statement issued after the 276th Corps Commanders’ Conference.

The conference, chaired by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, expressed serious concern over what it described as the continued use of Afghan territory by Indian-backed militant groups to plan and launch attacks against Pakistan.

The forum said lasting peace and stability in the region depended on preventing the use of Afghan territory for terrorism, adding that the responsibility rests with the Afghan Taliban authorities to ensure areas under their control are not used against Pakistan.

The commanders reiterated that Pakistan has the right to defend its people against terrorism and said the armed forces would continue intelligence-based operations under Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq against militants operating from across the border.

The conference also stressed the need for improved governance in terrorism-affected areas, saying an effective administrative system focused on public welfare is essential to dismantle the nexus between terrorism and criminal networks.

The forum further reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty, implementing its multi-domain military transformation plan, and protecting the country’s water rights and national interests in accordance with government directives.
