ISLAMABAD: The national cricket team quietly arrived in Islamabad from Dubai after losing the crucial match against India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The national team’s plane from Dubai first landed in Lahore, where PCB Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and board officials and a few others alighted. Then the plane took off again and this time its destination was Islamabad, where the national cricket team landed.
There was an unusual silence on the plane, the players were not communicating with each other.
After the one-sided defeat against India in Dubai on Sunday, everyone’s faces were withering, heads were bowed.
PCB Chairman Naqvi, who had earlier traveled from Karachi to Dubai in a special plane and arrived in Dubai with the team. While flying to Dubai there was a lot of hustle, bustle and noise in the plane, but on their return journey there was deep silence.
The chairman also invited the players to a dinner in Dubai. He also reached the stadium a night before the India match to boost the morale of the players.
However, after the defeat, everything changed. There wasn’t a smile on their face.
It should be noted that host and defending champion Pakistan has been eliminated from the Champions Trophy after first losing to New Zealand and then India.
However, the Pakistan cricket team has to play its last group match against Bangladesh on February 27 in Rawalpindi.
India and New Zealand have qualified for the semi-finals from Group A.
