ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission has announced the official results of the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, declaring outcomes for 21 out of 24 constituencies.
According to the notification, the Pakistan Peoples Party emerged as the leading party with 9 seats, followed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz with 6 seats. The Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party secured 4 seats, while the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and an independent candidate won one seat each.
The Election Commission said results for three constituencies—GBA-9 Skardu-III, GBA-17 Diamer-III, and GBA-15 Diamer-I—will be announced later.
On reserved seats, the Pakistan Peoples Party secured 3 of the 6 women’s seats, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz obtained 2, and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party won 1. For the three technocrat seats, each of the three major parties—PPP, PML-N, and IPP—secured one seat.
Despite the announcement of most results, the formation of a government in Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to face delays as the official gazette notification of returned candidates is still pending.
