Ex-deputy superintendent, three other jail officials sacked

DS Muhammad Akram was accused of facilitating PTI founder Imran Khan in Adiala jail.

RAWALPINDI: Deputy Superintendent of Adiala jail Muhammad Akram and three other officials have been dismissed by the government of Punjab.

In this regard, the home department of Punjab has also issued a notification dismissing the four employees. They were found guilty of negligence in the death of a mentally disturbed prisoner in the jail in February this year. 

The prisoner was beaten to death by other inmates of the jail. An inquiry was conducted into the incident which found the four officials guilty of negligence.

It may be mentioned here that deputy superintendent of Adiala jail Muhammad Akram was accused of facilitating the former prime minister Imran Khan in the jail. He was accused of working as a messenger between Imran Khan and the PTI leaders.

A few months back, Akram was picked up from his official residence in the jail colony and taken away by some law enforcement agencies personnel. His wife later approached the Lahore High Court seeking recovery of her husband.
