Final Candidate List for 2026 General Elections in AJK Released

MUZAFFARABAD: The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has released the final list of candidates for the 2026 general elections.

According to the Election Commission, a total of 852 candidates will contest elections across 45 constituencies, while more than 320 candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers.

The highest number of candidates is from Kotli, where 135 candidates are contesting in six constituencies. Muzaffarabad has 126 candidates in five constituencies, while Poonch and Sudhnoti together have 126 candidates across seven constituencies.

In other regions, 98 candidates are contesting in four constituencies of Mirpur, 83 candidates in four constituencies of Bagh and Haveli, 63 candidates in three constituencies of Bhimber, 51 candidates in two constituencies of Neelum, and 34 candidates in Jhelum Valley.

The Commission also announced that 126 candidates will compete for the 12 refugee seats.

Additionally, the Election Commission has allotted election symbols to 24 registered political parties, while election symbols for independent candidates will be issued shortly.
