KARACHI: The first Hajj flight from Karachi carrying 160 pilgrims has arrived in Saudi Arabia, marking the formal start of this year’s Hajj operations from Pakistan.

The flight departed via a private airline as Hajj operations began simultaneously from airports across the country.

Pilgrims were seen off by Nihal Hashmi, Governor of Sindh, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, who extended their best wishes.

More than 31,000 pilgrims are expected to depart from Karachi airport this year for the annual pilgrimage.

Under the Road to Makkah Project, Saudi authorities will complete immigration procedures for pilgrims at Karachi airport, allowing them to proceed directly upon arrival.
