First mission to moon after five decades falls into ocean

Paragon 1 sent by a private company crashes into Atlantic Ocean.

WASHINGTON: The mission to the moon sent by a private US company after over five decades ended in a disaster when it fell off into the Atlantic Ocean, according to media reports.

The mission to land in moon was launched by a private company United Launch Alliance instead of NASA. The reports said that the mission called Paragon 1 developed some technical faults and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean.

A tracking station located in Canberra, the capital city of Australia, reported the crash of the mission.

The main objective of the mission was to land in in moon and study its environment before the return of the US austronauts to the moon later in this decades. 

In case of its success, Paragon 1 would have been the first lunar landing mission after half a century and its sender the first private company.

So far, America, Russia, China and India have landed on moon.
