Five policemen suspended for raiding PTI chairman house

Police say raid on house at F-7 sector on Jan 13 was a misunderstanding.

ISLAMABAD: Five police officers of Islamabad were suspended on Sunday over a raid they conducted at the house of PTI chairman Gohar Ali Khan on Saturday evening.

During the hearing of the PTI election symbol case, Gohar Khan told the chief justice that his house had been raided and his family being harassed. He rushed by out and later came back and told the court that some people in vigos were trying to kidnap his family members. 

The chief justice asked the attorney general to probe the matter. Later, the unknown people left the house. 

The inspector general of the capital police suspended five officials of the police station concerned, including the station house officer. 

The police in a statement claimed by that they had received an alert from an informant about the presence of a wanted criminal in the house in F-7/2 sector. 

The police reached the house and found no one suspicious and returned. Later, it transpired in that the house belonged to the PTI chairman Gohar Ali Khan. 

PTI supporters, on the other hand, criticized the police for the raid and asked the government to take action against the officials and provide protection to the PTI leaders.
