ISLAMABAD: Citizens have expressed dissatisfaction over the latest increase in petrol prices, saying the move will further fuel inflation and add to the financial burden on households.
The federal government has raised the price of petrol by Rs4.45 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs334.96 per litre. Residents said the increase would not only raise transportation costs but also push up the prices of essential commodities.
Many citizens argued that while the government occasionally announces small reductions in fuel prices, these are quickly followed by larger increases, leaving the public without meaningful relief.
They said rising inflation had already strained household budgets and that the latest fuel price hike would make daily life even more difficult.
The public urged the government to reduce petroleum prices to provide tangible relief and ease the impact of inflation.
Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs2 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs383.86 per litre.
