Iranian President Due in Pakistan on Second State Visit

ISLAMABAD: At the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will undertake a state visit to Pakistan on Tuesday, accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers and senior officials.

During the visit, President Pezeshkian is expected to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and hold formal talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He will also call on the Chairman of the Senate, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, this will be President Pezeshkian’s second visit to Pakistan in his capacity as head of state. The spokesperson said the two sides will review the full spectrum of bilateral relations and explore new avenues to deepen cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, border security, people-to-people exchanges, and regional connectivity.

The discussions are also expected to cover ongoing diplomatic engagement following the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, along with regional and international developments of mutual interest.

The Foreign Office stated that the visit reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Iran to strengthen their historic and cultural ties and highlights their common aspiration for peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.–APP
