TEHRAN: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the regional landscape has changed following the recent conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States.
He urged Washington to recognize the new realities, particularly in the area of trade.
According to Iranian media, Ghalibaf made the remarks during a meeting with the Speaker of Uzbekistan’s Parliament, saying the post-war environment has improved compared to the past and recent developments have compelled the United States to acknowledge changing circumstances.
He said the current atmosphere provides an opportunity to expand trade relations between the two countries and expressed hope that the groundwork could eventually be laid for the lifting of sanctions.
Ghalibaf also said that joint management of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz by Iran and Oman, along with a reduction in U.S. activities in the region, would create better opportunities to enhance regional transit and trade cooperation.
The Iranian speaker reiterated that evolving geopolitical conditions could pave the way for stronger economic engagement and greater regional connectivity in the future.
