CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has said there can be no normalization of relations with Israel until a just peace is achieved that ends Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories and guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Speaking at the inauguration of the State Strategic Command headquarters in Cairo, Sisi said there would be “no lasting peace, no real stability, and no normalization with Israel” unless Israeli occupation ends, aggression ceases, the rights of the Palestinian people are restored, and security is ensured for all.

He added that a just peace would allow the peoples of the region to live in stability and prosperity.

Sisi also called for a ceasefire in Gaza, saying that despite the truce announced in October 2025, Israeli attacks have continued.

He further expressed Egypt’s support for the recent framework deal aimed at easing tensions between Iran and the United States.
