Pakistan again fails to qualify for hockey olympics

Head coach Shahnaz Sheikh blames bad umpiring for exit of team from event.

MASCAT: Pakistan failed for the third consecutive time to qualify for the hockey olympics to be held in Paris France.

The head coach of Pakistan, Shahnaz Sheikh instead of accepting the inability of the team blamed the umpires for the exit of the team from the mega event.

In the qualifying matches in Muscat, Pakistan failed to qualify for the olympics even after winning against New Zealand.

To qualify for the Paris Olympics, Pakistan had to stand on the third position at least but it couldn’t despite defeating New Zealand twice. New Zealand beat Pakistan in the match by 3:2 goals.

On the other hand, the head coach of Pakistan blamed the umpires for the defeat.

Sheikh said that when Pakistan team’s captain objected to the third goal by New Zealand and sought referral to the third umpire it was rejected on the excuse that due to absence of a camera at the side the ball couldn’t be seen clearly.

He said due to the wrong decision of the umpire, Pakistan could not qualify for the mega event.
