ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office has dismissed as misleading and inaccurate social media commentary and reports regarding Pakistan’s role in the recent Human Rights Council (HRC) resolution on the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson, the Foreign Office clarified that the resolution was an annual joint initiative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Geneva, presented by Pakistan strictly in its capacity as OIC Coordinator.
“The resolution was tabled only after the Palestinian delegation, following extensive negotiations, expressed satisfaction with the final draft, which was then endorsed by the entire OIC group,” the statement said.
It stressed that Pakistan does not make unilateral changes to such resolutions and that the adopted text adhered fully to the agreed OIC process.
Refuting claims that the resolution had been withdrawn, the Foreign Office said the proposal was referred to the UN General Assembly for further consideration—not shelved.
“Pakistan does not recognize Israel and does not engage with it in multilateral forums. Any suggestion of accommodating Israeli preferences is baseless,” the spokesperson stated.
The Foreign Office also noted that two other OIC-sponsored resolutions on Palestine were adopted during the session, both tabled by Pakistan at the request of the Palestinian delegation.
Reaffirming its longstanding support, Pakistan reiterated its unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause in line with OIC consensus.
