BRUSSELS: The Pakistan Embassy in Belgium hosted a reception in honor of the national hockey team, welcoming players and officials during their visit for international matches.
The event was attended by members of the Pakistani community, diplomatic officials, and individuals from various walks of life, reflecting strong support for the national team.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, Rahim Hayat Qureshi, warmly received the players and officials. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the historic importance of hockey as Pakistan’s national sport and its role in bringing international recognition to the country. He expressed confidence that the team would regain its former glory through continued hard work and determination.
Pakistan Hockey Federation Board of Governors member Chaudhry Pervez Ali Sindhela and Coordinator Tahir Ali Shah were also present at the event.
Chief Coach Manzoor-ul-Hasan thanked the embassy and its staff for their hospitality, praising their professionalism and support since the team’s arrival in Belgium.
Team captain Imad Butt also appreciated the encouragement from the embassy officials and reaffirmed the team’s commitment to improving performance in upcoming matches.
Pakistan has recently faced defeats against Belgium and Spain in the Pro Hockey League. The team is scheduled to face Belgium again on June 19, followed by a match against Spain on June 20.
