ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has confirmed that Pakistan has received Iran’s response to the United States regarding ongoing negotiations.

Addressing the first anniversary ceremony of Marka-e-Haq at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, the prime minister said Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir informed him that Iran had sent its reply for the US through Pakistan.

Earlier, Iranian news agencies reported that Tehran had submitted its response to Washington’s latest proposals aimed at ending the conflict, noting that the current negotiation phase focuses entirely on reducing regional tensions.

According to reports, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously stated that Tehran’s official stance on the US proposals would be issued internally after thorough review and finalization.

It is worth recalling that, under Pakistan’s mediation, the conflict between the US and Iran, which began on February 28, was halted after nearly 40 days. During this period, direct negotiations were held in Islamabad between both parties, marking the first such face-to-face talks in four decades.

Although no final agreement emerged from the Islamabad talks, both sides continued exchanging proposals. US President Donald Trump had announced, at Pakistan’s request, an indefinite extension of the ceasefire.
