Pakistan, Iran vow to bolster, diversify cooperation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif phones Iran's president-elect and congratulates him on his election victory.


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iran’s President-elect Dr. Massoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday vowed to further boost and diversity relations between the two countries.

The resolve was expressed in a telephonic conversation. The prime minister made the telephone call to congratulate Mr Pezeshkian on his election as the president of Iran.

The two leaders said that they would be working to enhance bilateral ties in different fields, including trade.

The prime minister wished the Iranian president a successful tenure and said Pakistan looks forward to working closely with him to further strengthen relations and enhance their cooperation in trade, energy and regional security.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Iranian president-elect thanked Mr Sharif for his felicitations and expressed his desire to further deepen ties between two nations.

The prime minister of Pakistan and the Iranian president-elect also discussed regional issues and agreed to continue close coordination in the future.
