ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has called for stronger cooperation among member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to accelerate digital initiatives aimed at empowering women and expanding their access to technology.
Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, while addressing the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women in Islamabad, said Pakistan is ready to work with OIC countries to transform ideas into practical projects, pilot programmes, and digital platforms that support women’s participation in the digital economy.
She said Pakistan is prepared to share its experiences with other member states while benefiting from their expertise, innovations, and technological advancements to promote women’s empowerment through information technology.
The minister highlighted that Pakistan is working towards ensuring that every girl has access to digital connectivity, a secure digital identity, and financial services, enabling greater opportunities in education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
She said digital skills development and access to technology can play a key role in reducing barriers faced by women and help them become active participants in the digital economy.
The minister added that collaboration among OIC countries can create new opportunities for innovation, knowledge-sharing, and the development of technology-based solutions for women’s advancement.
Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasized that inclusive digital development is essential for creating equal opportunities and strengthening the role of women in the modern technology-driven world.
