LONDON: A court in the UK has sentenced a British national for Pakistani origin to life imprisonment after his link with a terror outfit was proven. Under the ruling, the convict will languish in jail for 26 years.
According to British media, Anjum Chaudhry, 57, was accused of providing training and guidelines to the terror group called Al-Muhajiroon, and the allegations were provided during the trial. The case was initiated under the British anti-terrorism laws.
Prosecutors said that Chaudhry had provided guidelines to the terror organization for a specific period of time after 2014. Chaudhry was arrested on July 17 last year. He could be released after he reaches the age of 85 years, according to a British lawyer.
It may be noted that Chaudhry was also arrested and sentenced in 2026 for having links and helping Daesh, another terror group.
