ISLAMABAD: The Power Division has announced a new initiative aimed at improving transparency and ensuring that government electricity subsidies reach eligible consumers effectively.
According to the spokesperson, electricity distribution companies will now clearly mention the amount of subsidy provided to consumers on their monthly bills. This step is intended to help beneficiaries understand how much financial support they are receiving from the government.
The Ministry of Energy stated that a QR code will also be printed on electricity bills. Consumers will be required to scan the code and complete a registration process through a provided link. This registration is designed to ensure that subsidies continue to reach deserving households, particularly low-income and low-consumption users.
Officials clarified that the move does not indicate any plan to withdraw subsidies. Instead, the government remains committed to supporting low- and middle-income groups, emphasizing that the objective is to ensure fair and efficient use of public funds.
Consumers have been urged to complete the registration process promptly to continue receiving subsidies. In case of discrepancies or concerns regarding billing, users can contact their respective electricity company helplines.
