PESHAWAR: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Women’s Wing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa celebrated the party’s 57th founding anniversary with a grand women’s convention at a local hotel in Peshawar.

Senator Rubina Khalid, the President of the PPP Women’s Wing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program, was the chief guest.

The event saw an impressive turnout of women leaders and workers from across the province. Key participants included Senior Vice President and MPA Nilofer Babar, Vice President Ajbar Jadoon, Shehnaz, Asiya Khattak, and other members of the provincial cabinet and city office-bearers.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Rubina Khalid congratulated the party leadership and workers on the milestone, describing the PPP’s journey as one of “democratic struggle and immense sacrifices.” She highlighted the vision of the party’s founder, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who established the PPP to empower the marginalized and give a political voice to the underprivileged.

“The PPP’s 57-year history is a testament to its fight for democracy, human rights, and the well-being of the people. Our connection with the masses remains as strong as ever,” Senator Rubina said.

She credited the party’s leadership for major national achievements, including making Pakistan a nuclear power, the formulation of the 1973 Constitution, introducing identity cards and passports, hosting the Islamic Summit Conference, and granting the common man the right to vote and participate in politics.

Senator Rubina also paid tribute to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for her courageous leadership during turbulent times. “Benazir Bhutto followed in her father’s footsteps, dedicating her life to serving the poor and championing their rights. Her leadership and vision united a divided nation, giving ordinary citizens the awareness and strength to fight for their rights,” she added.

She further acknowledged the efforts of President Asif Ali Zardari, particularly his unifying slogan “Pakistan Khappay” during a critical period. She emphasized the party’s ongoing commitment to democracy and public welfare under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Concluding her address, Senator Rubina Khalid saluted the sacrifices of all martyrs of democracy, reaffirming the PPP’s resolve to continue serving the people and strengthening democratic values in Pakistan.
