President Zardari Invites Trump to Visit Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has extended warm congratulations to US President Donald Trump and the American people on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the United States’ Independence Day, while also inviting President Trump to visit Pakistan.

In a congratulatory message, President Zardari said the United States has continued to uphold its long-standing traditions of strength, innovation, freedom, democracy, and equal opportunity.

He noted that the achievements of the American people over the past two and a half centuries have made significant contributions to global progress and prosperity.

The president said Pakistan and the United States share a longstanding relationship based on mutual respect, common interests, and a shared commitment to promoting peace, security, and prosperity.

He acknowledged the valuable role of the Pakistani-American community in strengthening bilateral ties, saying their contributions have fostered friendship, trust, and closer people-to-people relations between the two nations.

President Zardari expressed confidence that Pakistan-US relations are moving in a positive direction, with both countries committed to expanding cooperation and building a forward-looking strategic partnership.

He stressed the importance of continued collaboration in energy security, trade and investment, defense, counterterrorism, and other areas of mutual interest.

The president also highlighted the significance of the Pakistan-US partnership in promoting regional peace and stability, referring to President Trump’s reported role in facilitating a ceasefire between two nuclear-armed states in May last year.

He appreciated Washington’s confidence in Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue with Iran and emphasized that lasting solutions can only be achieved through negotiations and diplomacy.

On behalf of the people of Pakistan, President Zardari formally invited President Trump to undertake an official visit to Pakistan.
