Qatar Airways plane makes emergency landing at Karachi

KARACHI: A Qatar Airways flight made an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport Karachi on Saturday.

Officials at the Civil Aviation Authority told media that the Qatar Airways’ flight was going from Doha to Philippines when it made the emergency landing.

The plane, a dream liner, was flying at an altitude of 39,000 feet when its one engine stopped working due a fault. The pilot made a May Day call to the Karachi airport and sought permission to land.

An emergency was declared at the airport after issuing permission to the aircraft for landing. The aircraft then landed safely at the airport, the officials said.

They said the aircraft was carrying 187 passengers who were disembarked from the plane and shifted to the airport lounge for medical examination. The aircraft was being examined and needs time to fix the fault.
