Strict Security in Place for Iran–US Talks in Islamabad Again

ISLAMABAD: The government has tightened security arrangements in Islamabad ahead of the expected arrival of Iranian and US delegations with authorities placing all relevant agencies on high alert.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has instructed its employees to prominently display their service cards at all times. Security agencies have also barred entry into sensitive zones without valid identification during the VIP visit.

The Inspector General of Islamabad Police has directed that all related security orders be treated as “top priority,” emphasizing strict compliance across departments.

Meanwhile, the Additional Inspector General (Operations) has formally written to the chairman CDA and deputy director administration, reinforcing the need for enhanced coordination and enforcement of security protocols during the high-level visit.

In previous rounds of high-level diplomatic engagements held in Islamabad, authorities had implemented layered security protocols, including the deployment of specialized police units, snipers at key rooftops, and coordinated monitoring through Safe City surveillance systems. Entry points to sensitive zones were sealed in advance, while movement routes of delegations were kept strictly confidential and secured through mobile escorts.

During those earlier talks, coordination between federal law enforcement agencies, intelligence units, and paramilitary forces was significantly intensified to avoid any security lapse. Strict vehicular checks, temporary road closures, and clearance of surrounding areas were also enforced, setting a precedent for the heightened security framework now being replicated for the current visit.
