Suicide Attack on Police Checkpost Leaves 15 Personnel Martyred

BANNU: At least 15 police personnel were martyred after militants rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the Fateh Khel Police Checkpost late at night, in one of the deadliest attacks in the region in recent months.

According to police, three personnel were rescued alive from the rubble as search and rescue operations continued at the site.

The martyrs were identified as Rahmat Ayaz, Sanaullah, Niaz Ali, Shoaib, Saadullah, Kamran (son of Mahmood Khan), Nematullah, Kamran, Abid Jani, Imran, Naimatullah, Siddiqullah, Mir Alam Khan, Rahatullah Khan, and Farooq Dad.

Senior police officials, including Sajjad Khan, visited the District Headquarters Hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured and expressed solidarity with the affected families.

Speaking to the media, Sajjad Khan said the morale of Bannu Police remains high and vowed that militants would not succeed in their “evil designs.”

He added that the attack would prove to be the militants’ last such action, promising that security forces would track down those responsible and eliminate their network.

Search and clearance operations are still underway in the area.

Meanwhile, Sohail Afridi strongly condemned the attack, expressing grief over the loss of lives and directing authorities to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured.

He said terrorism is a challenge for the entire country and reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to stand with the families of martyrs while eliminating militancy from the region.
