Two officers among seven armymen martyred by terrorists

ISPR says security forces also eliminated six terrorists during a clearance operation in North Wazirstan.

RAWALPINDI: Two officers and five jawans of the army were martyred by terrorists in Mir Ali area of North Wazirstan, the military’s media wing said here on Saturday.

The ISPR said that terrorists rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a checkpost at Mir Ali due to which five soldiers embraced martyrdom. Part of the checkpost building also caved in the suicide blast.

After the incident, the army carried out a clearance operation and killed six terrorists. However, during an exchange of fire, Lt Col Kashif Ali and Capt Ahmed Badar also embraced martyrdom.

The ISPR said that Col Kashif, 39, was from Karachi and Capt Ahmed, 23, belonged to Talagang.

The other martyrs were Havaldar Sabir from Khyber, Naek Khurshid from Lakki Marwat, Sepoy Nadir from Peshawar, Sepoy Raja from Kohat and Sepoy Sajad from Abbottabad.
