ISLAMABAD: The embassy of the United States of America in Pakistan has said that it is facilitating applicants for US visa in Pakistan.
According to local media reports, the US embassy in Islamabad has reduced the waiting time for visa interview. Earlier, the visa appointment was fixed 440 days after receipt of an application, but now this timeframe has been reduced to 220 days.
The duration of waiting for the visa interview has been reduced for interview of educational, tourist and business visas.
Officials in the US embassy said that students were being given priority in issuance of the US visas. They said that every month around 10,000 visas were being issued to students in Islamabad and Lahore.
In reply to a question, the embassy officials said that cannot give details about rejection of visa applicants, but last year a record number of US visas were issued to applicants in Pakistan.
