US Will Take Over Iran’s Enriched Uranium: Trump

WASHINGTON: Former U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s enriched uranium will be transferred to the United States under a coordinated arrangement with Tehran.

In an interview with Reuters, Trump said that the process would move forward in a “structured but gradual” manner, suggesting cooperation between the United States and Iran on handling nuclear-related materials.

He stated that the operation would involve carefully extracting nuclear material and related residues from Iran’s facilities using heavy machinery, describing it as dealing with “nuclear dust” left after earlier strikes on Iranian nuclear sites by the United States and Israel.

Trump reiterated his position that the objective of past actions was to halt Iran’s nuclear programme, which Washington and its allies have long expressed concerns about.

He also dismissed reports suggesting a possible $20 billion cash agreement between the United States and Iran, calling such claims “completely false” and denying any financial transfers.

The remarks come amid heightened global attention on Iran’s nuclear stockpile. According to international monitoring estimates, Iran currently holds 440.9 kilograms of uranium enriched up to 60 percent, a level that experts say could be further refined to weapons-grade material if increased to 90 percent.

Iran, however, has consistently maintained that its nuclear programme is for peaceful and civilian purposes only.

The latest statement adds to ongoing diplomatic uncertainty surrounding U.S.-Iran relations and broader regional security dynamics.
